Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis, the Plungė District Municipal Public Library will present the exhibition “Two Elements of M. K. Čiurlionis: The Sea and the Mountains” at the Clock Tower-Orangery during the Plungė City Festival.

In 2024, the Plungė Public Library implemented the project “To Feel the Light in One's Palms”, dedicated to commemorating the 150th anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis’ birth. As part of the project, an audiovisual performance inspired by the artist’s work was presented. Čiurlionis' paintings were brought to life on the walls of the library's castle building, enriched with animations created especially for the project and impressive visuals reflecting the theme. The visual show was accompanied by percussion and electronic music elements, and a wall installation titled “Pano” was created.

Another project was also introduced during the Plungė City Festival – an outdoor photography exhibition “PhotoAlley‘24: Artistic Improvisations on the Theme of M. K. Čiurlionis”. This exhibition showcased artistic photographs portraying the path of M. K. Čiurlionis and complemented the library's series of anniversary events.

Continuing the celebration of the 150th anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis, the Plungė Public Library invites you once again during this year’s City Festival to visit the exhibition “Two Elements of M. K. Čiurlionis: The Sea and the Mountains.” The exhibition will feature 19 reproduced artworks: “The Message”, “The Tale of the Castle”, “The Altar”, “Prelude of an Angel”, “The Sea Sonata” (three parts), and the “Zodiac” series (12 works).
